2nd Time Moms Luncheon

His little bro on the right just gave him the fire truck. :)

  • Place: Da Nonna Rosa, 140 7th Ave, Park Slope
  • Date & Time:  Thursday, Feb. 16th, 12:00-2:00 PM
  • Cost: $33 in advance, $40 at the door (please RSVP if you plan to pay at the door)
  • RSVP: chana@babybites.com

If you are either pregnant with your #2 OR have just given birth to your #2, we hope you will join us for this special 2nd Time Moms Luncheon, where we will have not one, but two experienced moms of two offering tips, advice, and support, and answering all of your questions relating to this big transition…with a focus of our time dedicated to your sleep/sharing a room questions (because we know that’s a topic that is of concern to many parents).

Rachel Cedar who runs You Plus Two Parenting, a company dedicated to helping moms transition from 1 to 2 will be co-facilitating this discussion along with Chana Balk, who runs babybites Brooklyn and Move It Momma.

Come with your baby (#2′s only — sorry, the toddlers/preschoolers are not invited this time) and your questions — we’ll start the conversation by going around the room, hearing the questions/topics on YOUR mind.

Plus . . . enjoy a delicious lunch, get some quality time with your #2, meet other second time moms, and get to vent about how you’re supposed to stay up all night with a newborn and then be ready for a 2 year old at 6 am (argh!!!).

We look forward to seeing you there!

Going Back to Work — If, When & How

working&baby

When you were pregnant, you had it all figured out — you would take 3 months off, then find a great childcare arrangement and then return to your job.  Now, here you are with your baby, and everything isn’t as clear as it once was.  Maybe you are not sure whether you want to go back at all, or maybe you have already gone back and are questioning your decision.  Maybe you can’t wait to go back, but have no idea how you’re going to balance it all.

Going back to work after the birth of your child is a uniquely challenging experience. All sorts of conflicting questions may be running through your head — How can I leave my baby? Will he know that I am the mommy if I’m not around all the time? How will I balance everything? If I have the option to stay home, should I? These are just a few of the questions facing so many moms today.

We are thrilled to be hosting Going Back To Work — If, When & How, where Rebecca Rodskog of Rodskog Change Consulting, an unbelievably inspiring life coach, will discuss all of these topics and help you figure it out.  She will help you make the decision that is best/right for you and your family, and offer practical tips for moving foward.

We will poll the room so that we are sure to cover the specific topics that you are dealing with.  We encourage any working moms who are grappling with these issues to take a long lunch break and join us, including expectant moms.

We will also have an experienced and knowledgeable Brooklyn mom of two in attendance to answer your going back to work questions relating specifically to your childcare situation — whether its helping you figure out if daycare or a nanny is best for your family, or answering your questions about how to find a nanny or a daycare in your area, or how to best transition to your specific childcare situation when you go back to work, we’ll have answers and hopefully help to alleviate some of your concerns.

One lucky mom will take home the Boon Frog Pod!

Starting Solids

  • Is your baby about to start solids or in the process of starting solids?
  • Are you a little bit confused about when, how to start, what to expect and even what to offer your baby?

  • Are you simply looking for healthy and wholesome ideas for foods to feed your baby?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we hope you will join us for this fun and informative new moms luncheon. Registered Dietitian, Amy Shapiro of AWS Nutrition will share her knowledge and experience about starting solids and providing healthy meals for your little ones (recipes are included!). Of course, there will also be plenty of time for your questions.

In addition, a representative from Happy Baby Food will be on hand to offer moms and (solid-eating) babies some yummy samples of their delicious premium organic baby food.  Plus, every mom will take home a copy of their nutrition guide, and one lucky baby will take home a certificate for free Happy Baby Food!

And, one lucky mom will also take home a beautiful onesie from Magnificent Baby.  If you haven’t seen their clothing yet, you mustcheck them out — they use a magnetic closure system for their baby clothes, which makes dressing baby so much easier.
